SCOTLAND360° BLOG POST - A ROUND OF THE CORROUR HILLS

A WINTER TRIP AROUND LOCH OSSIAN VIA THE HIGH TOPS

18th and 19th March 2006

A weekend with pals on the Corrour hills. Dropped off by the train at Corrour station on the Saturday morning, we had a superb winter day crossing the tops of Carn Dearg and Sgor Choinnich with an overnight stop at one of the cottages at Corrour Lodge. The following day saw us return to Corrour station via Ben na Lap on the north side of Loch Ossian.

A great winter day out!

Dropped off by the train at Corrour Station, this was the start point for our sojourn to the other end of Loch Ossian via the mountain tops. Looking towards the north, we could see back towards Stob Coire Easain and Stob a’ Choire Mheadhoin whilst to the west lay Leum Uilleim.

Views down Loch Ossian – snow covered hills, blue skies and sunshine!

Gaining the summit in late afternoon, the view westwards towards Cairn Leum Ulleim was superb, as was the summit cairn covered in rime ice.

A group selfie at the summit with wide ranging views all around us before we started the descent down to Courrour Lodge.
