SCOTLAND360° NEWS PAGE

Introduction

It’s always a balance between being “out there” and being back, processing and publishing the imagery. Facebook, Instagram, websites, there’s always plenty to feed and to update.

Snippets, news updates and latest developments feature on this page – when I have the time…. 🙂

THE BLACK ISLE - AN AERIAL 360° VIRTUAL TOUR

Scotland360° Virtual Tours

January 2020

During 2019, I developed a Black Isle Aerial 360° Virtual Tour and am now inviting Black Isle businesses to feature in this unique advertisement for the Black Isle.

There are three accommodation providers who currently feature in the tour and others in the pipeline. Look out for updates and new entries over the coming months.

Use the links in the adjacent photographs to see some of the possibilities for the use of 360o photography as an interactive, immersive advertising medium.

Whilst this particular tour has been developed for the Black Isle, as a fully qualified and insured CAA Approved UAS (Drone) Pilot with comprehensive CAA Permission for Commercial Operations, I can also offer a range of bespoke 360° photography options.

SCOTLAND360° SEA TO SUMMIT PHOTOGRAPHY COURSES

The 2020 Collection.... So Far

January 2020

The 2020 series of workshops is taking shape with a number of courses now advertised and scheduled – others are in preparation.

New for 2020 is the Adobe Lightroom Editing Workshop. Adobe Lightroom is one of the photographer’s “go to” software packages for post processing and this workshop will take you through the complete workflow from memory card to the final, finished result.

Making use of the evening light, the ever popular Low Light Photography Workshop runs in February and we’re hoping to catch the spectacular springtime sunsets at North Kessock in April.

April also sees a Beginners evening workshop running over two evenings. Based on the Ness Islands in Inverness, this foundation workshop is those starting on their photographic journey, and those who would like to better understand camera controls.

May sees full day landscape and mountain photography workshops, with the potential for magical springtime light to be harnessed in iconic locations. Join me on the mountains in Sutherland, with long distance views to the Sutherland hills and the Outer Isles, whilst in beautiful Glen Affric we can use scale to define and discover the secrets of perspective.

In June, I’m introducing a new Photography Tour which spends a day visiting inspirational and photogenic locations on the way to Skye. Kintail, Eilean Donan, Skye, Lochalsh and Plockton are all options for this tour which is open to all photographic abilities.

Brand new for 2020 are the two trips in association with Hebridean Adventures, on board the MV Monadhliath. The Sea Kayaking Expedition is planned for July and visits the Summer Isles, the Shiant Islands and the east coast of Harris. This is a unique way of discovering the islands of the Minch, paddling in waters rich in cetaceans and seals, so we never know what we might encounter while out on the water!

And in August, I’m delighted I’m delighted to be leading a 5 day guided photography expedition, again in partnership with Hebridean Adventures on board the MV Monadhliath.

There’s more to come, with new locations and topics. Look out for more in Skye and Wester Ross in particular and new venues for mountain photography.

PHOTOGRAPHY EXPEDITION IN PARTNERSHIP WITH HEBRIDEAN ADVENTURES

29th August 2020 to 2nd September 2020

December 2019

New for 2020….

I’m delighted to be leading a 5 day guided photography expedition in partnership with Hebridean Adventures on board the MV Monadhliath.

Departing from Mallaig, our photographic odyssey will take you to some of the most photogenic locations in the West Highlands. Travelling by boat, approaching our destinations by sea, allows for some unique photographic perspectives on this amazing journey….

We plan to visit the remote Knoydart peninsula with views to lofty mountains, stunning landscapes and with ample opportunity for wildlife spotting. From there we’ll explore Sandaig, the home of Gavin Maxwell’s “Ring of Bright Water” before cruising to Isle Ornsay on Skye and on to the Isle of Soay, another Gavin Maxwell haunt.

We’ll journey into Loch Scavaig and underneath the Black Cuillin mountains of Skye. Impressive and foreboding, these ancient mountains form a photographic gateway into the upper reaches of Loch Scavaig and hopefully an opportunity to land at Coruisk to capture the experience of the Skye Cuillins towering above us.

More information and a Booking Form are available on the Hebridean Adventures website and we’re really looking forward to seeing you on board.

SEA KAYAKING EXPEDITION IN PARTNERSHIP WITH HEBRIDEAN ADVENTURES

25th to 29th July 2020

December 2019

Tania and I are delighted to be leading a 5 day sea kayaking expedition in partnership with Hebridean Adventures on board the MV Monadhliath.

Paddle the Summer Isles, exploring the stacs on the way to Priest Island, discover the Shiants and be amazed at the spectacular coastline of Harris, all in a Scottish Western Isles adventure. This sea kayaking cruise, hosted in partnership with Hebridean Adventures, is based on MV Monadhliath departing from Ullapool to discover these beautiful and remote islands of the North Minch.

On this very special sea kayaking adventure cruise to the Western Highlands of Scotland and the Outer Hebrides, we want to give you the chance to enjoy the stunning beauty of summer paddling in the Summer Isles, discovering the amazing Shiant Isles from the water with their seabird colonies (including thousands of puffins) and taking the time to enjoy the scenic Isle of Scalpay and the east coast of the Isle of Harris.

Sea kayaking in this stunning Hebridean wilderness setting of islands and coastlines is a special experience to enjoy and one you will remember for a long time. The added possible bonus is we will be paddling in waters rich in cetaceans and seals, so we never know what we might encounter while out on the water!
